FEMA Support: If you know of anyone who had a family member pass away from COVID-19, FEMA will provide up to $7,000.00 to reimburse funeral expenses for deaths that occurred after January 20, 2020. The program starts in April and the information can be found on:
April 2021 Virtual Heroes’ Cafe: Another great virtual gathering of veterans and supporters happened on 27 April. We heard a very exciting presentation on the effort to place the next Wa State Gold Star Families Monument on the Lynnwood Veteran Park grounds This historic event will happen on 11 November 2022. The team led by our Gold Star Moms will make this happen with everyone’s support, including yours. More to follow on how and when you can help. Also, we must thank Myra for facilitating our “Open Mic” break room where we were able to enjoy each other’s company, catch up, and exchange veteran-specific information. Our popularity continues to increase where we almost doubled our attendees from last month’s virtual Heroes’ Cafe. We continue to look for more attendees until we have our first post-pandemic, in-person Heroes’ Cafe within our new home. Another reason to be excited was the announcement of a Heroes’ Cafe lunchtime Cook-out in late June 2021. More to follow and we will need your help setting up, grilling, serving, and cleanup/breakdown. Please consider your role in this event where we will have a drive through and or tents with tables and chairs..
We continue to pray for our Nation’s POW/MIA especially the family of Clayton Werrion Hristopulos, US Army, Korean War Veteran, Mountlake Terrace, POW/MIA since July 1950. We Will Never Forget!
